A pro-democracy group, Youth Alliance for Good Governance and National Unity, has drummed supports for the governor of Jigawa state, Ahlaji Sule Lamido, ahead of 2015 presidential election in the country.
Making this known in communique jointly signed by Comrades Reuben Akpah and Abu Temitope, the National Coordinator and General Secretary respectively and made available to LEADERSHIP at the end of the just concluded summit of its National Executive Commitee, the group said: "considering his maturity, we are making a Macedonian appeal to Ahlaji Sule Lamido, to as a matter of urgency, declare his intention to contest the 2015 presidential election"
The group pressed on the governor to see the appeal as a clarion call to national duty, sressing that his goodwill is neded to develop Nigeria the was he has developed Jigawa state.
"It is pertinent that we look for a man of integrity, experience and political maturity, above all a nationalist to come and salvage Nigeria at this critical period of our national development in which our national unity is the hallmark of our ntional identity as the most populous black nation on earth is being threatened by poor infrastructure and security, occassioned by lack of good governance" the communique reads in part.
However, the group called on President Goodluck Jonathan to honour his words and the agreement he had with his party and Nigerians that he would only spend a term in office as president.
It also urged the President to ignore sycophants that have been asking him to contest the 2015 presidential election.
"Our position in this regards is devoid of primordial sentiments of ethnicity and religion, but based on our genuine interest and commitment towards protecting the entity called Nigeria" the communique concluded.
