Even though it is believed that law must be upheld, but sometimes one feels some perverts are worthy of greater punishments than the one given. Presently jailed for an effective 10 months is a 28-year-old man who impregnated a 13-year-old girl.
The accused, Robert Chihoro pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared before magistrate court, who initially sentenced him to 12 months’ imprisonment before two months were conditionally suspended.
Prosecutor Morris Mlilo told the court that sometime in August 2009, accused proposed love to the minor who was at that time aged 13 years.
On December 25 2010 accused lured complainant into his car and drove to a business centre where they had s*xual intercourse with the girl’s consent.
The matter came to light when the girl fell pregnant, leading to the statutory r*pe case being reported to police and accused arrested, the court heard.
