The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Bala Mohammed, on Monday expressed delight over the quick submission of a report on the Fulani/ Gwari clash.
Mr. Mohammed set up a nine-member committee during an emergency meeting on Monday, December 31, 2012, to, within one week, look into the immediate and remote cause of the dispute between the two groups.
The Minister commended the committee members as he said they did a thorough job and submitted the report at the scheduled time.
The minister vowed to punish the culprits. He appealed to those involved not to take laws into their hands through reprisal attacks.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Ministerial Fact Finding Committee, the FCT Police Commissioner, Aderenle Shinaba, said that Gwako Village, the scene of the clash, lacks proper leadership.
Mr. Shinaba said that about 25 suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the incident. He held that the youth of the village are restive, hostile and lawless.
Last week, there was a communal clash between Fulani/Gwari people in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja. It affected 27 communities, left two people dead and displaced 1500 people.
