Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy has completed his £5.5million move to Newcastle.
The France international, who watched the home defeat to Everton, has passed his medical but he is not available to play in the FA Cup third round at Brighton on Saturday.
Manager Alan Pardew will meet chief executive Derek Llambias and secretary Lee Charnley to discuss striker options as Demba Ba heads to Chelsea.Marseille striker Loic Remy is Newcastle's top target but they face competition from QPR and West Ham.
Pardew said: 'We have a meeting and we will be discussing options in front of us. I don't think our policy will change too much. Money is tight here in terms of how we spend it.
'We try to get the best possible deal for the club but we do take into account where we are.'We are in a battle to secure our Premier League status and make no bones about that.
'The trick really is to get our injured players back on the pitch. We need one or two of our senior players back in the dressing room. But one or two reinforcements will help.'
