They will feel more comfortable with those that were brought up in the same way and shared a common childhood filled with traditions and values. A person can usually tell whether they will be able to get along with someone else. They will feel at ease with them and comfortable in knowing that they enjoy the same types of things that they do. This is usually because they have known the same type of upbringing as the other person. The things that are familiar to them make them feel a lot more comfortable than if they were with someone that has completely different ideals and backgrounds.
Dating in a culture that one is not familiar with might not allow them to find someone that they similar values or beliefs. Since ethnicity plays a huge part with this type of thing, many people shy away from dating someone that is from a different ethnic background from them.
