No fewer than 40,000 Nigerians have appended their signatures on a larger-than-life Super Eagles Jersey taken round country by Guinness Nigeria PLC.
The Managing Director of the company, Mr Seeni Adeetu, disclosed this on Friday in an interview in Ikeja, Lagos.
Adeetu, who was also at the reception held for the Super Eagles by Gov. Babatunde Fashola in Ikeja, said most of the signatures were signed before team’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) victory in South Africa.
Adeetu explained that the company expected more signatures with the team`s triumph.
The Managing Director said that the jersey, which he described as the largest in the world, was designed by the company to rally support for the Super Eagles before the tournament.
He said the company was pleased that the team won, adding that the squad would achieve much more with more support from Nigerians.
“We are glad that at the end of the day the team won. We were with the Eagles, when no one could touch them with a pole.
“We believed in them. We supported them and now, they are victorious.
“If there is any company who is the number No 1 fan of the Eagles, it is our company. We are glad at their success. And we will continue to support them,” he said.
Fashola, at a reception for the Super Eagles in Lagos, splashed a total of N54.5 million on the team for emerging victorious in South Africa. (NAN)
