As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate the World Water Day today, the United Nations
Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has lamented that over 66 million Nigerians are without improved drinking water.
It then urged governments at all levels to address the situation which according to it “is the leading cause of diseases and deaths especially among under five aged children.”
In a statement to mark the event, yesterday, in Makurdi, a Field Office Communication Officer, Mrs Ijeoma Onuoha-Ogwe, said “child mortality data shows that Nigeria is among the five countries contributing about half of the global under-five deaths.”
