A Kubwa Upper Area Court, yesterday, sentenced a 27-year-old student, Gideon Sambo, to two years imprisonment for threatening to kill his father.
The Presiding Judge, Malam Munir Lawal, did not give the convict any option of fine. He admonished him to take advantage of the opportunities in the prison to become a reformed person.
Sambo was arraigned before the court for mischief and criminal intimidation.
The Police Prosecutor, Mr Danjuma Abdullahi, had told the court that the case was reported to the Dutse police station by the convict’s father, Mr Yohana Sambo, on April 28.
“On that date, the complainant told the police that his son, Gideon, damaged his house windows and other property. He also told the police that his son threatened to kill him with a cutlass. He said the boy had threatened him severally. He encouraged the police to initiate criminal proceedings against his son,” Abdullahi said.
He added that the offences contravened sections 327 and 397 of the Penal Code.
Sambo had pleaded guilty to the charges, but complained that his father always starved him of funds.
