A Magistrate court sitting in Ojookoro, has adjourned the case of Nigerian singer and model Tiwa Banks, who was allegedly assaulted by her landlord’s son, Tobi Obadina in Lagos.
The matter was slated for hearing early in the week but only the prosecutor Clara Olagbayi and the defense counsel announced their appearance. The counsel to the complainant, Olumide Akindiya, announced his appearance for all the complainants but only the second complainant, Olushola Ajayi was in court.
The prosecutor asked the court to have them amend the charge. The defense counsel rose to inform the court that the complainants are the tenants of the defendants’ father and the family of the defendants met with the complainants and their families to settle the matter. The prosecutor however, said there was no meeting held to that effect.
The magistrate challenged the defense counsel that he should rather have said they “intend to meet the complainants for settlement”. The case was adjourned till the 19th of February, 2013 for further hearing and amendment.
