From all indications, it appears telecom giants, Globacom, is set to return as the title rights sponsor of the Nigeria Premier League.
On Thursday evening, the problems associated with the sponsorship were sorted out in a meeting that was held in Abuja between the Interim Management Committee of the NPL and the stakeholders.
After the meeting, both parties released a statement saying: “All parties have agreed to withdraw all pending matters in court associated with the title sponsorship of the Premier League.
“Total Promotions Limited has also agreed to withdraw their claims to the right of the title sponsorship of the Premier League.
“Globacom being the preferred bidder has accepted to take up the title sponsorship rights. Consequently, Globacom will now become the official title rights sponsor of the league on the same terms agreed during the last bidding exercise.”
The NPL has been without a title sponsor for the past two seasons, but a contract will now be formally signed before the League kicks off.
