Confusion over Mikel suspension
Confederation of African Football official here at the Rustenburg centre, Mr Emmanuel Maradas could not throw light on Mikel Obi’s likely suspension from the quarter-finals last night.
Mikel has bagged two yellow cards and could miss the quarter-final tie against Cote d’Ivoire, but Maradas had no definitive answer when he was asked to clarify.
“CAF will meet tomorrow (today) and deliberate on all outstanding issues concerning cards and other matters,” Maradas, a well-known publisher of an African football magazine, said. “If it was just one yellow card, I’m sure he wouldn’t be suspended, but with two, I’m not so sure.”
Mikel has become an important part of the Eagles set-up after a slow start in the first game. And the team will be keen to have him available.
