No fewer than 22, 000 Osun State youths have applied for employment under the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme of the Federal Government.
A statement by the state Communications Officer, Sure-P, Mr. Tewogbade Latona, on Monday said only 3,000 vacancies were available.
Dismissing the insinuation that Sure-P is a political propaganda by the Federal Government, the Chairman of the project, Dr Bayo Faforiji, said the programme was evolved in the interest of the masses.
Addressing youths who had turned up for the programme in Osogbo, Faforiji said youths would be employed for community service at various levels.
The statement said, “Sure-P is not a political propaganda. Only 3,000 vacancies are available. Applicants are being shortlisted in a most fair process.
“The exercise is devoid of the insinuations being peddled around. The Federal Government is aware of the challenges facing the youths and it is ready to check unemployment.”
