As part of its educational initiatives, First Bank Nigeria Limited, has unveiled a new product known as First Excel Series that will engender youth empowerment.
Speaking at a press briefing preparatory to the launch of the First Excel, Head, Marketing and Corporate Communication of the bank, Mrs. Folake Ani-Mumuney, said, “ First Bank is the first to introduce this kind of product in the area of youth empowerment as an integral part of its corporate responsibility.”
According to her, “At First Bank , our goal is to remain a strong supporter of efforts geared towards equipping the youths with the skills and tools required for socio-economic empowerment through our support of youth engagement initiatives, endowment schemes and infrastructure development. Our desire is to see our strategic and need driven youth empowerment interventions culminate in equipping Nigerian youths for a bright future.”
She further revealed that the bank is poised to enhance youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and tackle some of the challenges faced by youths in their pursuit of good education , research development , small and medium scale enterprises, ICT, etc.
According to her, The Youth Excel Series is targeted at Nigerian youths in federal institutions across the country, with the kick off to take place on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the University of Lagos and on Thursday, February 28 at the University of Ibadan respectively. The event is aimed to inspire , motivate and encourage the youths inspite of limitations and challenges will feature renowned motivational speaker and author of the bestselling book “ A Set Back is a Set Up for Come Back” Willie Jolley.” It will also feature exhibitions of First Bank innovative products and services, job fair as well as musical performances and competitions” Ani-Mumuney added.
She further disclosed that First Bank has been tranformed into a nimble and modern bank with global standards and best practices, and we will be showcasing its interesting offerings at youth conferences.
According to her, “ Core to our educational interventions is the Bank’s endowment programme which has instituted professional chairs in academic fields in several universities across our geopolitical zones and also facilitates infrastructural develpment in some of these universities As we warm up to celebrate 120 years of out Bank’s rich heritage, we would work hard to remain the premier corporate citizen, even as we continously seek to engage in social interventions for the good of Nigerian youths and all our stakeholders.
