The frontline traditional ruler of Iwo land, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Ashiru Tadese was on Tuesday laid to rest in his home town Iwo.
The entire town of Iwo in Osun state was in mourning as his remains was laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
Oba Tadese died on Monday at the age of 80 during a protracted illness.
Major markets were shut down; tree branches were cut down in honour of the late monarch.
The burial prayers were led by the President-general, league of Imam and Alfas, South-West Nigeria, Sheikh Mustapha Ajisafe.
Speaking shortly after the burial, the first son of the late Oba Tadese Segun Tadese and other prominent sons of Iwo land said he will be greatly missed.
The late Oba Ashiru Tadese was born in 1933 and became the Oluwo in 1992.
