THE sacked National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode Mustapha,
yesterday, approached the Ogun State High Court sitting in Isabo, with an application exparte, seeking an order of the court to stop the PDP from removing him from office.
This came as leaders of PDP in the state pledged to work with the embattled faction believed to be loyal to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing Obasanjo as the father of all.
Counsel to the embattled National Auditor, Gboyega Oyewole, while speaking at the court, urged the court to stop the PDP from going ahead with the removal of his client.
Mustapha, Segun Oni, former Governor of Ekiti State and the executive members of the party in the state believed to be loyal to ex- President Olusegun Obasanjo were sacked last Friday by National Working Committee, NWC, and replaced them with members of the other faction of the party.
Oyewole in his argument, among others, said, “what we are saying is that, the office of the National Auditor or any member of the National Working Committee can only be elected at the national convention and not zonal congresses like these people are trying to insinuate, but, now that they have purportedly removed our client, we are seeking redress in the court.”
In his objection to the application filed by Mustapha, the Chairman of the party, Adebayo Dayo filed a notice of preliminary objection to challenge the jurisdiction of the State High Court.
“Counsel to the State Chairman, Ifeoma Esom said, among others, that the issue raised by the applicant “has already been adjudicated by a court of competent jurisdiction, so, this court is a court of the coordinate jurisdiction with the Federal High Court and cannot sit over the same case that has been determined by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.”
The presiding judge, Justice Abiodun Akinyemi, however, adjourned the case to Thursday, February 20, for the hearing of the motion exparte.
