A 12-year-old Chinese schoolboy has become the youngest golfer to qualify for a European Tour
event.
Ye Wocheng will tee it up at the Volvo China Open in May after claiming one of three places on offer at the Western China qualifier.
The youngster, who had his dad caddying for him, was two under for his two rounds.
Ye, from the industrial city of Donggaun in Guangdong province, shot a four-under 68 in round one and reached seven under at the halfway point of his second round.
But he dropped shots on 11 and 14 and, after a birdie at 15, signed for an eight at the par-five 16th.
Despite the wobble, he was the only other player to finish under par apart from Li Xinyang and Jin Da Xing, who were five under.
Ye's appearance at Binhai Lake Golf Club in May will beat the previous record of his compatriot Guan Tianlang, who competed last year as a 13-year-old.
