The National Coordinator, Forum for Justice and Human Rights (FJHD), Oghenejabor Ikimi, has
stated that, Nigerians would be the ones to determine their future if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) eventually adopts President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate come 2015.
This was contained in a press release, made available to Nigerian Tribune, over the weekend, in Warri, Delta State, following the recent verdict by an Abuja high court to the effect that Jonathan has the constitutional right to run as presidential candidate in 2015.
According to the rights lawyer, “whether President Jonathan would remain in office as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after May 2015, would be settled by the Nigerian electorate at the 2015 presidential poll as I am not oblivious of the fact that Nigerians are tired of shammed elections in our polity’’.
He said whether the president has performed in office or not does not strip him of his constitutional right to contest, as far as the PDP put him forward as their presidential candidate, adding that “law is law and sentiment is sentiment. Law is not sentiment and neither is law, sentiment.”
