Jennifer Lopez was being considered to perform the opening ceremony of India’s Premier League cricket tournament (aka the Super Bowl version of the sometimes confusing sport of cricket) but it seems the ridiculous demands of her team sent the promoter running in the opposite direction.
As Page Six tells it, Lopez’s manager Benny Medina had a list of ridiculous must-haves including a private plane and multiple hotel rooms for her entourage of stylists, assistants and personal chefs.
“The demands made on behalf of Jennifer were outrageous. She effectively priced herself out of the event,” an insider said. “It was an idiotic move because the audience for this event is huge. It’s like the Super Bowl halftime show. Last year it drew 56 million viewers.”
But it’s not the first time La Lopez’s divalicious demands have raised eyebrows.
In 2001, she brought a 90-person entourage to a BBC interview and wanted nine dressing rooms for them. And for a music video benefiting African AIDS victims in 2010, her rider reportedly included a “45-foot trailer, Diptyque candles, white couches, white lilies, yellow roses with a red trim, [and] white tablecloths.”
Anyway, her rep of course denies the most recent incident, saying J. Lo’s schedule was full of obligations that apparently left her far too busy to perform for tens of millions of people. So that’s believable.
Instead, the league booked Pitbull for its April 2 show. He’ll perform along with some of Bollywood’s biggest stars, so we fully expect the cricket match to end in an impromptu dance number.
