Operatives of the Special Fraud Unit Ikoyi have arrested a one-time property manager with the
Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mr. Uche Ehiemere.
Prior to his arrest, Ehiemere collected rents from NSE’s tenants at its building in Lagos with the mandate to retain five per cent of the proceeds as service charge and remit the balance to NSE’s account.
The bubble burst for Ehiemere after about 13 years of service, when it was discovered during account reconciliation that he had fraudulently converted N190m.
Ehiemere was also said to have allegedly stolen diesel and generator batteries.
Commissioner of Police, SFU, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, said investigation also showed the suspect also collected N10.6m and N5.2m from Central Securities and clearing System and First Bank Plc respectively.
“Both organisations are tenants of the NSE. Ehimemere will be prosecuted at the conclusion of our investigation,” Ogunsakin said.
