Reprieve have finally come the way of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, after it emerged that the Nigeria
Football Federation(NFF) have paid the team their outstanding match-bonus for the 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso in the finals of the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa.
The Super Eagles were owed $20,000 each,as win bonus promised to them if they could defeat Burkina Faso and win the Nations Cup title.
But it took the NFF over a month to redeem it,as the football federation were handicapped of funds to fulfil the obligation.
Even the Secretary General of the NFF,Barrister Musa Amadu, had to deny allegations making the rounds before Nigeria’s 2014 World Cup qualifiers,” that some senior players of the Super Eagles, wanted to boycott the game” following the non-payment of the bonus.
After the 1-1 draw with Kenya over the weekend, the NFF is understood to have paid each member of that squad to the Nations Cup,$20,000 each for their efforts in winning the trophy.
It cannot be ascertained where the money came from, but the NFF have reportedly gotten delivery of the $1.5 million prize money from CAF, for winning the Nations Cup title.
