The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed `deep sorrow’ over the death of Mr John-
Abba Ogbodo, Assistant Political Editor with the Guardian Newspapers.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Friday in Abuja, described the late Obgodo as `a great Nigerian who lost his life in the line of duty.’
He added that Ogbodo`s death had thrown the party`s national secretariat into mourning.
Ogbodo died in an auto crash on Thursday in Achingili near Ayangba in Kogi state.
He and some other colleagues were said to be travelling to Anambra on official assignment when the vehicle they were travelling in, had a flat tyre.
Metuh described the late Ogbodo, who covered the activities of the PDP for many years; “ as an exceptional and very hard working journalist.’’
He said that the late journalist contributed immensely to the development of the country through his reportage of political events.
Metuh said that Ogbodo was dedicated to his calling as a journalist and carried out his duties with a great sense of responsibility that reflected in the credibility of his reports.
“Ogbodo was an exceptional journalist who remained dedicated to his calling as a journalist.
“He covered the activities of the PDP for many years and during this period, he carried out his duty with great sense of responsibility,’’ Metuh said.
He said that the PDP family deeply mourned the late Ogbodo, adding that his memory would continue to remain fresh in the hearts of all party members.
He said that Ogbodo contributed immensely towards the political development of the country.
Metuh condoled his family, especially his wife and children; the Guardian family and all members of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) on his death.
He also prayed God to give the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss (NAN)
