DRUGS found buried in containers near a road in the Adelaide Hills have a street value of more than $7 million, police say.
Two men have been charged with trafficking in relation to the drug haul, discovered after police on bushfire patrols on Tuesday spotted them acting suspiciously near Inglewood.
Seven large containers were found at the scene containing about seven kilograms of methamphetamine which would provide for more than 73,000 street deals.
However police said the drugs were 70 per cent pure and once combined with cutting agents could produce three times as many deals.
Drug Investigation Branch boss detective superintendent Des Bray said the find showed that while the force had specialist officers, routine patrols still played a critical role in the fight against drugs.
"A seizure of this size will have a substantial impact on the availability of illicit drugs in our community," he said.
