Over 2,000 delegates from 56 African countries are expected to attend the next African global business forum holding in Dubai next month.
A statement sent to our correspondent via electronic mail on Wednesday by the organisers said the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Segun Aganga; President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and Hakeem Bello-Osagie were among Nigerians that would speak at the forum.
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organising the Africa Global Business Forum 2013, in conjunction with the COMESA Regional Investment Agency, with the theme, ‘Bridging the continent to the world’, the statement also revealed.
It added that the forum would provide a platform to explore and identify investment opportunities from seven economic blocks.
“The forum will highlight Dubai’s strategic role as a world-class hub for doing business with Africa,” it stated.
According to the statement, the Supreme Committee for Expo 2020 is a strategic partner for event, which is billed to hold between May 1 and May 2, 2013.
It also said the forum would explore investment opportunities in Africa and highlight the strategic role of Dubai as a world-class hub for connecting to Africa.
“It will provide a better understanding of the investment opportunities and advantages associated with doing business in the African continent; additionally, participants will be able to identify the framework, which drive growth and contribute to a favourable business environment, whilst networking with key industry peers,” the statement said.
It listed prominent African decision makers and local speakers at forum as UAE Minister of Economy, UAE Minister of State and Managing Director of Expo 2020 Dubai, Secretary-General, COMESA, Zambia, as well as top Dubai and global company officials.
It quoted the Director-General, Dubai Chamber, Hamad Buamim, as saying that the forum would attract global business leaders with current and potential investments in Africa.
He stressed that Dubai recognised Africa as an important emerging market and would like to capitalise on the opportunities presented for bilateral investment and trade.
“The promising markets of Africa are our priority and Dubai Chamber’s focus on the African Continent will support the competitiveness of Dubai’s business community in the overseas markets,” he said.
Buamim called on Dubai businesses to benefit from Africa’s large economic community with an immense scope for bilateral trade, making it a lucrative and important business destination.
