Beyonce' covers new issue of Vogue U.K. as Considers Herself A 'Modern-Day Feminist'
Queen Bey opens up about her feminist philosophies in the new issue of Vogue U.K. and teases that a big announcement is on its way.Beyoncé declared girls run the world back in 2011, so it should come as no surprise that she considers herself a "modern-day feminist."
Bey opened up about her feminist views in the latest issue of Vogue U.K., which hits newsstands on Monday.
"But I guess I am a modern-day feminist. I do believe in equality. Why do you have to choose what type of woman you are?" she said, according to the Huffington Post U.K. "Why do you have to label yourself anything? I'm just a woman and I love being a woman." Teases from the interview arrived on Wednesday, one day before the singer is expected to make a major announcement Thursday."I do believe in equality and that we have a way to go and it's something that's pushed aside and something that we have been conditioned to accept," she added.
However, Beyoncé has recently also taken on her hubby, Jay-Z's last name more publicly, not only referencing her married life in her latest single, "Bow Down/I Been On," but also naming her world tour The Mrs. Carter Show. And just like Sasha Fierce before, she finds strength from adopting that moniker.
"I feel like Mrs. Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I've ever been," she said. "It comes from knowing my purpose and really meeting myself once I saw my child. I was like, 'OK, this is what you were born to do'. The purpose of my body became completely different."
Speaking of that world tour, which kicks off on April 15 in Serbia, Beyoncé addresses her intensive work ethic for any live show she's readying for. "I'm always bruised somewhere, my legs, my hips," she said. "But you've already started so you've just gotta fight through it."
After trekking across the globe, the tour will land Stateside on June 28 with a show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles during the BET Experience event. In addition to the new tour, fans are eagerly awaiting Bey's highly-anticipated 2013 album. A track list for the release hit the 'net last month, but few details have been confirmed about it. A release date for the album has yet to be announced by the singer.
Fans now know that something is definitely on its way. On Wednesday, Bey released a 6-second long teaser announcing that something new is coming out on Thursday. The clip features the singer in leather hot pants and a sheer tank top in a bare room. She's rocking a metal glove and looks fiercely into the camera while a beat and sampled vocal plays underneath. At the end, the message reads: "4.4.2013 9AM EDT #BeyHereNow." Stay tuned for more details.
