Niger State, Muazu Babangida Aliyu yesterday gave a stern warning to those toying with the idea of not conducting 2015 elections in the north because of security challenges.
Governor Aliyu who also doubles as the Northern Governors’ Forum chairman, spoke in Benin at the 60th birthday anniversary lecture of Governor Adams Aliu Oshiomhole of Edo State.
He warned that there will be no election in Nigeria if there is no election in the north, saying this move may sound the death knell of democracy in Nigeria.
The governor said “we must wake up and groom democracy otherwise agents of doom will take us back”.
Aliyu again voiced his disagreement with President Goodluck Jonathan on the issue of Boko Haram members arguing that if they are ghosts as insinuated by the President, “what of those that have been arrested”.
He said if actually the real Boko Haram members had been arrested they should tell security agencies who their sponsors are.
