The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) have threatened to begin a sustained attack codenamed “Hurricane Exodus” against Nigeria.
The group in a statement issued by its spokesperson Jomo Gbomo on Wednesday, says the attacks is to protest a forged threat letter by the Nigerian and South African governments alleged to have originated from the group.
The group says the fake threat letter was used as evidence against MEND Leader Henry Okah who was recently sentenced to 24 years in prison by a South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The attacks according to Gbomo, will commence 00:00 Hrs, Friday 05, April 2013 and will be sustained until an unreserved apology is offered to MEND and the Nigerian government shows their willingness to dialogue.
MEND, had out rightly rejected the 24-year jail term handed to its leader, by Justice Neels Claaseen of the South Gauteng High Court in South Africa.
