NEMA has confirmed a fire outbreak that occured at around 11am on 7 December 2012, at the Annex Building of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja.
The Head of Abuja Operation Office of the National emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ishaya Chonoko made this confirmation through a press release.
There has been no casualties reported with the fire which was put out after a distress call by INEC officials followed by a quick response of rescue officers and firefighters from the Federal and FCT Fire Service saved the situation from affecting other buildings within the premises.
Ishaya Chonoko also added that the only office affected by the fire is the Office of the Director of Registry.
The INEC Office is behind the Office of the National Emergency Management Agency in Maitama Abuja.
