The Kaduna State Government on Monday said it was compensating about 4,000 persons, whose houses were damaged in the April 2011 post-election violence in the state, with the sum of N150,000 each.
Speaking on Monday while inaugurating the programme in Zaria, the deputy governor of the state, Amb. Nuhu Bajoga, said the money is part of the relief package provided to the victims by the government.
Represented by Chairman of the Jama’atul Nasir Islam in the state, Alhaji Ja’afaru Makarfi, Bajoga explained that the victims included 180 and 3,000 people in northern and southern parts of the state.
According to him, “Owners of the houses verified and found to be authentic will receive a cheque of N150,000 each, while affected mosques and churches will be given N100,000 each.
“Victims from Northern Kaduna Senatorial District are to converge on Zaria; those from Southern Kaduna are to receive their money in Kafanchan and Kaduna central in Kaduna.”
