Navy Arrests 8 Pipeline Vandals In Calabar

The Commanding Officer of Nigerian Navy Ship Victory in Calabar; Commodore Kingdom Itoko, has paraded eight suspects arrested with over 200 drums of illegal produced petroleum products between Igbani Station and Parrot Island with a Cotonou boat in Cross River State.
journalists, the Commodore maintained that the Command’s fight against ridding the Eastern Maritime of criminal elements such as bunkering among others is being intensified.
He assured Nigerians that the waterways are safe and can go about their normal businesses as he called on the Federal Government to make job creation for youths its priority this New Year.
This is coming as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) declared that it is re-strategizing to combat the activities of pipeline vandals in the country.
Speaking to journalists after the annual meeting with senior officers in the Corps, the Commandant General; Dr. Ade Abolurin explained that the Corps is planning to improve the relationship with other security agencies for an efficient fight against vandalism in the country.
In 2012, Nigeria witnessed several pipeline vandalisation and Dr. Abolurin promised that the Corps will learn from the mistakes of last year and refocus for the new year.
The culprits arrested according to Itoko will be interrogated and handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
