The former Super Eagles captain went to visit the young defender in Holland to encourage him in his game
Nigeria’s football ambassador, Nwankwo Kanu has started playing his role with a trip to ADO Den Haag to visit Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo.
The young defender forced his way into the Super Eagles team during the last Nations Cup in January and has been keeping out Joseph Yobo, the captain of the team.
“I visited Kenneth so as to support and encourage him,” Kanu told mtnfootball.
“He is one of our young talents who are doing Nigeria proud in Europe.
Kanu added that “The club told me that he is cool headed, a professional and very hard working.
“He’s growing and I see him going on to be a very great defender in the world. We will continue to support and push him to do even more.”
Omeruo, obviously delighted by the visit said: “It’s a great honour to have an all-time great like Kanu at my club. It’s a great encouragement for a young player like me, it will lift me.”
The 19 year-old on-loan Chelsea defender has played 24 league matches for his club without a goal and has been shown the yellow card five times with no red cards.
