The remains of the late deputy governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Funmilayo Adunni Olayinka, would be buried on Friday, April 26. The weeklong activities for her state burial will
commence on April 22. Mrs Olayinka, 52, died in Lagos April 6, after a long battle with cancer.
According to a statement signed on behalf of the state government by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo, activities for the state burial of the late deputy governor would be held in Ekiti and Lagos states.
Her Husband, three children and aged parents survived the late deputy governor. Meanwhile, the Forum of Deputy Governors (FDG) in Nigeria said it was impressed by the quality of medical treatment given to the late Ekiti State deputy governor, Mrs Funmi Olayinka, in her battle against cancer, which eventually led to her death.
The Forum in a condolence message to the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, thanked the government of the state for providing the late deputy governor the best of medical treatment both in Nigeria and abroad, while the ailment lasted. Delivering the message of the Forum to Governor Fayemi in Ado-Ekiti , the representatives of the deputy governors, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulure of Lagos State and Chief Segun Adesogun of Ogun State, lauded the support the late Mrs Olayinka got from the Ekiti State Government.
