FERMA – Street lights on Third Mainland Bridge will be ready by April

Mr. Oladimeji Abayomi, an engineer with the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), has said that installation of street lights on Third Mainland Bridge, will be completed in April.

Abayomi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), that the contractors working on the Bridge, were currently tracing and clearing the faults and that more lights will come on every week, till all the faults were cleared.
“They are tracing faults underground and laying cables,” he said. “When you are tracing a problem, you may meet a bigger one that needs to be solved. Anytime from March or April the work would be completed.
He also lamented inadequate power supply, which has also played its part in slowing down the process, pending when it will change to solar energy.
“Power outages and outrageous billing system are majorly affecting the lights on the bridge, the agency relied more on generators to power the lights from five different substations in the state,” he concluded.
