Police Arrest Governor Lamido's Son For Killing Man With Speeding SUV

The police in Kano yesterday arrested Aminu Sule, the oldest son of the Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, for vehicular homicide.

The Kano State police spokesperson, ASP Magaji Majia, confirmed the death of the yet-to-be identified victim, and that Aminu was being detained by the police.
SaharaReporters however learned of his release today on bail. The police would not say if they plan to charge Aminu for any offences relating to the death of the man.
An eyewitness said the incident happened at Bayero University, and that the speeding Aminu knocked down the man as he was trying to cross the road into Rumfa College.  The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed him dead.
Aminu was also recently arrested by the EFCC at the Aminu Kano International airport for money laundering, and he spent a night in jail at the Kwalli Police Divisional Headquarters.
Governor Lamido is widely-rumoured to be preparing to run for president in 2015.
