JTF Returns N1m Stolen Items To Owner In Maiduguri


The Joint Task Force, JTF, on Operation Restore Order, ORO, yesterday, presented recovered stolen items worth about N1 million to a businessman in Maiduguri.


The items were stolen by suspected robbers from a store in Maiduguri in May before they were recovered by the JTF Patrol Team around Ruwan-Zafi, Maiduguri.
The JTF spokesman, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, handed over the items at a ceremony in Maiduguri, yesterday.
Musa said a JTF patrol team impounded the items from the suspected robbers during a night patrol.
He said: “A JTF patrol team on routine patrol on May 25, 2012 observed an unusual movement at Ruwan–Zafi in Maiduguri metropolis.
“Consequently, a snap cordon and search operation was conducted in the area which led to the recovery of 10 brand new motorcycles.”
The JTF boss said an additional four new motorcycle engine were also recovered.
He noted: “Four new motorcycle engine wrapped in cartons were also uncovered.
“Investigations revealed that the items were stolen and hurriedly moved to a store on sighting JTF troops’ movement to the area.”
He added that the JTF traced the ownership of the items to a particular businessman in the metropolis.
He appealed to residents of the state to report any unusual movement to the JTF and other sister law-nforcement agents for prompt action.
